Do you know how many strategies there are available to write a biography? While most advocate for extreme brevity, I’m of the opinion that you deserve to know who I am, what to expect, and what I can offer as your therapist.
Whatever the strategy, it seems biography writing assistants mistake marketing for the mark of that most human element, the single best predictor of productive counseling: the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Fundamentally, it is important that prospective clients know I meet you where you are, refrain from judgment, offer authentic empathy and presence.
I am a nationally board certified and licensed professional counselor with a community mental health work history. My work is deeply rooted in existential, narrative, and intersectional psychotherapies, as well as trauma aware modalities and Focusing. I engage in affirming practices for the neurodiverse, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC communities, maintain multicultural humility, and am whole person-centered. CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing techniques, when appropriate, are utilized in an organic and non-manualized format to further assist my clients in reclaiming their power, meaning, and hope through insight driven therapy.
I operate from the fundamental idea that you are the expert of your life and can affect helpful change. I engage my clients as an equal partner to assist in addressing both symptoms and underlying factors associated with depression, anxiety, phase of life concerns, and to process trauma using evidence-based practices. I am a Queer, Autistic, cis-gendered white male therapist interspersing levity, appropriate client-led irreverence, and educational resources to help create a safe, comfortable, and productive therapeutic space.
I’m good at what I do; the better question we’ll answer together when we meet is whether I’m a good fit for your needs. I look forward to hearing from you and exploring that question together.
